Coming from Character.AI? What works the same
An honest feature map for people moving from Character.AI: what carries over, what works differently, what Persony does not have yet, and what it costs.
Your characters
Create characters with a name, greeting, description and definition, or import them: the Character.AI export, character cards (V2/V3) and plain text all work. Each one keeps its picture when the file carries it.
Your chats
Bring your latest chat with each character — up to the last 150 messages with their dates — from a file that contains chats, so the character picks up where you left off. Older chats are folded into a short summary the character can use.
Memory
Instead of a small memory box, Persony keeps a Notebook: what it knows about you, what each persona noted, your plans and a summary of each chat. You can read, edit and delete every line. Your old memory box comes along as the start of the chat summary.
Voice
Call any persona and talk in real time, or send voice messages. Each persona has its own voice.
Group chats
Put several personas in one chat and talk with all of them.
New here: personas that write first
Pick a time — a morning plan, an evening journal, a language practice — and the persona messages you first, with a notification on your phone. It can also remind you of things you asked it to.
Not in Persony yet
Swiping for another version of a reply and editing messages are not available yet; both are next on our list. There is no public character feed with millions of community characters: Persony has a curated catalog and your own private characters.
Who it is for
Persony is for adults (18+). Every persona is clearly an AI. Characters based on real people or on fictional characters owned by others stay private and for personal use.
What it costs
Free to start: 50 messages and 5 voice minutes that do not expire. Plus opens for purchase soon; it costs $9.99 a month or $79 a year and includes 1,000 messages and 60 voice minutes a month.
Independent project
Persony is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Character.AI. Character.AI is a trademark of its owner and is named here only to identify that service. Feature descriptions of Persony are as of 24 October 2026.
